Alette Vonk and Vasco Silva invite you to a joyous book launch! This story shows what it takes to be successful in an African business environment.

The book ‘Cultural Confluence in Organizational Change: a Portuguese venture in Angola’ has just been published and the launch will take place on April 5th in Leiden.

The book presents an inspirational case study of Silva, a Portuguese businessman who established a business in Luanda, Angola. After four years of growth, Silva encounters a culture shock due to a wild strike by the employees. He embarks on a cultural exploration and gradually, gains an understanding of effective leadership in the Angolan context. He initiates an organizational change project and shows what it takes to be successful in an African business environment. Vonk has added management literature from both in- and outside Africa.
